Based on the classic Phase 45 phaser pedal, this PCB offers a quick and easy way to add some classic modulation to your guitar tone.
Using easy-to-source components and sized perfectly for a standard 1590B enclosure, everything is board mounted – even the rate potentiometer, flashing rate LED and bias trimpot.
As well as the standard Phase 45 circuit, this board has been adjusted to include an on-board bias trimmer and a flashing LED tied directly to the speed of the phaser sweep. This v2 board has also been adapted to support the more commonly available 1M right-angle mount potentiometer although the build docs tell you how to use the more traditional 470k if you want to keep things authentic! I’ve also amended the layout (for boards labeled v2.1) to use the more common 5mm pitch box capacitors – no more bending of component legs to get them to fit properly – as well as more standardised 100mil spacing between the offboard pads to better suit those of you who use header pins or ribbon cable.
When you buy this PCB you will also get:
- The PCB itself
- Bill of materials (BOM)
- Build instructions document
If you want a head-start on this build, why not grab a Phase 45 component kit (including matched transistors) from Bitsbox here – you’ll just need to get an extra 2.4k resistor, 2 extra 500k resistors, a 1M potentiometer and an LED for the flashing rate indicator!
